South Aiken Thoroughbreds Varsity stole the lead late in the game in a 5-4 victory over Bamberg-Ehrhardt on Thursday. The game was tied at four with South Aiken Thoroughbreds Varsity batting in the top of the seventh when Haley Butts singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Bamberg-Ehrhardt took an early lead in the first inning when W Rutland singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.

After South Aiken Thoroughbreds Varsity scored one run in the top of the second, Bamberg-Ehrhardt answered with one of their own. South Aiken Thoroughbreds Varsity scored when Kate Platte doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. Bamberg-Ehrhardt then answered when Avery Hanner induced Ri Johnson to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Hanner pitched South Aiken Thoroughbreds Varsity to victory. The righthander allowed seven hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out six.

Johnson took the loss for Bamberg-Ehrhardt. The pitcher lasted seven innings, allowing 11 hits and five runs while striking out six.

South Aiken Thoroughbreds Varsity scattered 11 hits in the game. Platte, Hanner, and Bridget Boyleston all managed multiple hits for South Aiken Thoroughbreds Varsity. Platte went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead South Aiken Thoroughbreds Varsity in hits.

M Hallman led Bamberg-Ehrhardt with two hits in four at bats.
